Supporting Clean wind and hydro power through the CTCleanEnergyOptions program costs .595 cents extra per kilowatt hour for 50% clean, renewable energy or 1.19 cents per kilowatt hour for 100% clean renewable energy.
Luckily, this additional cost can be eliminated by making a simple change to a separate portion of your bill called the Generation Service Charge (highlighted in pink)

There are several choices for this Generation Service Charge.
If you have not chosen a Generation Service provider you are set up with CL&P's standard Generation Service Charge which is currently 11.051 cents per kilowatt hour.
By choosing what is called a "competitive supplier" from the list below (click to enlarge)
you will save between 1.381 and 0.061 cents per kilowatt hour compared to CL&P's default rate. You can apply this savings to purchase CTCleanEnergyOptions renewable energy certificates that support local Connecticut hydro power and wind turbines. By making these changes to your bill you will be able to support renewable energy and earn your city or town free solar panels at no additional cost.
